Old Testament age, there were no virgin births associated with them. God merely assumed an adult likeness of man. A real incarnation and virgin birth involve nine months of fetal life, a natural childbirth, and normal human development. Fourth, the incarnation and the virgin birth did not cause Mary to become “the mother of God.” Elisabeth called her “the mother of my Lord” (Luke 1:43), but nowhere in Scripture was Mary ever called the mother of God.
